This course teaches the concepts and tools of the Imago Relationship Therapy of Harville Hendrix and Helen LaKelly Hunt — the imago, the power struggle, the mirroring-validation-empathy dialogue, the exercises — for a practitioner supporting couples, without issuing any Imago certification et without training psychotherapists.
For practitioners and future practitioners in complementary therapies, coaching, mediation or support work, who receive couples or people in a relationship and want a structured, safe and honest dialogue. No prerequisites.
An approach to the couple formalized in the 1980s, spread by an international organization that trains and certifies its therapists. It is widely practiced; studies evaluating it exist but remain limited. The training states this from the very first module, attributes each concept to its authors, and never uses the title of « Imago therapist ».
The backbone of the entire course: no dialogue between an abuser and their victim, no support for a violent relationship or one under coercive control, no substitute for psychological or psychiatric follow-up. Violence, coercive control, abuse, distress: the course teaches how to refer without delay, and an entire module is devoted to it.
